    Informal inspection description
    5.2.2 Informal Inspections

    Informal inspections are the responsibility of the end user who can also nominate a person to conduct these inspections. Frequency of informal inspections is determined by results of a risk assessment or at intervals determined by a competent person.
    Definition of Competent person is a person who has acquired through training, qualification or experience the knowledge and skills to carry out the task effectively and includes manufacturer, supplier or racking designer. This competent person should have worked in the industry as a racking designer, engineer or installer or have similar experience with steel storage racking and understands the requirements of relevant brand and type of storage racking being inspected. Such competent person should also possess the skills to complete / oversee racking installations and repairs.

    Formal Inspection description
    5.2.3 Formal Inspections racking up to 8.0M in height can be completed from ground level.

    Shall be conducted by a competent person at intervals not exceeding 12 months. The frequency of such inspections should be based on results of a risk assessment or as recommended by a competent person.
    Above 8.0M require suitable machinery to determine compliance with Inspection Checklist 5.2.4
    Results of inspections shall be documented and include observations and proposals for corrective action.
